This Estate has recently tidied up this burial gound which is of historic interest. SSE were doing some work on overhead power lines in the Munerigie area and kindly agreed to provide a new footpath to the burial ground gate. From the photo one can see what a good job they made of it.

As can be seen from the photo, the Glengarry War Memorial sits back from the road on the side of the hill.

Access to it has been by a steep flight of steps which denied the disabled and infirm the right to lay a wreath on Remembrance Sunday.

The Company instructed Sand Macrae Contracting, Fort Augustus to build a path suitable for the disabled up to the memorial.

The work was completed in time for last year’s Act of Remembrance and was well used and much appreciated.

Update

The Company has ordered wrought iron railings from the Cotswold Decorative Iron Company to replace the temporary wooden structure. These will  be installed shortly.

Construction was at no cost to the Community.
